Alternatively: a piece of string or paper tape, which can then be transferred to a ruler or rigid tape measure.

Place the tape measure about 2cm above your eyebrows, passing it just above your ears and around the back of your neck.

Make sure the measuring tool is in a horizontal position and resting well on your head, without exerting excessive pressure. Note the measurement in centimeters.
